Mardi Gras season means it’s king cake time once again, and Food Depot in Bogalusa is one of many locations throughout the parish where the traditional purple, green and gold treats are available for purchase. Bakery employee Brenda Bardwell reports king cakes, prepared daily, have been on sale at the grocery store since just after Christmas and that blueberry and cream cheese is the most popular variety.
