DICKERSON

Joyce Talley Dickerson, 65, a resident of Franklinton, died at 1:42 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.

She was born April 13, 1947, and was a former longtime employee of Riverside Medical Center, where she loved her job as a telephone operator. She thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with her co-workers and the friends she met there. She was always a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Leroy Dickerson of Franklinton; a daughter, Sheryl (Joey) Brown of Franklinton; two sons, Stacy (Mechele) Dickerson and David Dickerson, both of Franklinton; seven grandchildren, Ashley McCain, Jimmy Thomas, Johnathan Estave, Corey Dickerson, Christopher Dickerson, Lee Ann Dickerson and Lauren Dickerson; three great-grandchildren, Kameron Wilson, Kaelee Wilson and Jaiden Thomas; two sisters, Carolyn (Robbie) Strahan of Toledo Bend, and Gloria (Troy) Busby of Bogalusa; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James Harold Dickerson of Illinois and Ronnie and Margaine Dickerson of Franklinton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Carey Leroy Dickerson and Terry Marden Dickerson; her parents, Hubert Talley and Vernis Lott Caves; and sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Dudley Strahan.

Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 7 from 6- 9 p.m., and continued on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Burial followed in the Tyson Cemetery.
