On Friday evening, just four days into the new year, two men were killed near Varnado, and two others were shot and hospitalized. By the next day, two suspects were in custody, but the investigation continues.

The victims, who were pronounced dead at the Moses Road scene, were Brandon Alexander and Denzell Wise.

Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mike Haley confirmed on Monday that those arrested were Lasean Tyre Williams, 21, and Alex Wilson, 23. Both were charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder and being a material witness to first-degree murder.

Williams was arrested just before 8:15 a.m. Saturday, and Wilson was arrested shortly after 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Early Monday afternoon, WPSO investigators were still interviewing potential witnesses, and two vehicles involved in the incident had been sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for processing.

Haley said he would share additional details as soon as they are verified and could be released without harming the investigation.
