What’s happening at Resthaven Living Center

We at Resthaven can’t say enough about the love that has been shown during this holiday season. The community and surrounding area, churches, individuals, organizations, home health and hospice companies have stepped up to the plate and made this a Christmas that the residents could only dream about.

Hats off to our staff — they are all very special elves — who bought gifts for everyone. It is so amazing how much love flows through these halls. I am glad to be a small part of this. We are truly like a family; each new resident has a special connection with his or her caregiver.

There have been major changes here this year and everyone is so excited about the new chapel that is well on its way to completion. We can hardly wait. I hope everyone reading this has been by to see the new dayroom. It’s decorated for the holidays so when you visit go by and look at it.

Our Christmas dinner was a real delight. Families really had a great time being together and sharing a meal. On Friday we had the residents’ party, and all their bags were full. I don’t know which they enjoyed most: the gift bags or the party treats. It is so wonderful to be part of making the residents so happy.

I’ll finish with this. All through the year I mention from time to time our special friend and our administrator, each of whom works endlessly to make life better for every resident. Each resident is top priority to them. Also, our director of nursing is very dedicated to seeing that their needs are met. It is a 24/7 job and we are all committed to making a difference in the community.

Thanks seem so inadequate a word for the love that has been shown to the people who live here, so from our house to yours, we hope you had a merry Christmas and we wish you a happy New Year!
