Smiley Warren Davis received her wings and flew through the gates of heaven on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at the age of 95.

Born June 1, 1917 to the late Alfred Warren Sr. and the late Mamie Magee Warren, she was a wonderful and loving mother to 14 children. She was a member of Bethel Church of Christ and Holiness where she remained a faithful member until her health began to fail.

Her memory will be cherished by her children, Alnethia (Lattie) Ball, Ozzie (Lester) Ratliff of New Orleans, Joe Nathan (Lillian) Davis, Elaine Wilson of Franklinton and Mercedes Gaines of Oakland, Calif.; one sister, Carnell (Winzlo) Tate; one brother, Tom (Jerlean) Warren of Franklinton; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Osborne Dawson and Luther Davis; nine children, Nancy Lee Handy, Emma Lee Davis, Vera Dawson, Myrtis Lee Johnson, Lucille Dillon, Bobby Davis, Willie J. Davis, Alfred Dawson and Mazrow Dawson; seven sisters; and three brothers.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 21, at Crain & Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Bethel Church of Christ Holiness USA, with Rev. Jarvis Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Church Cemetery.
