Linda Bateman Burch

Linda Bateman Burch, 86, a resident of Mt. Hermon, died at 11:12 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at a friend’s home in Baton Rouge. Born April 17, 1926, she was a former secretary for the LSU Agricultural Center in Franklinton and a longtime member of Bogue Chitto Baptist Church. She had a wonderful personality and was known for the great sweet tea she made.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary Stringer Bateman of Baton Rouge and Diane Bateman of Franklinton; a niece, Sherri (Weldon) Beaugois of Clinton; three nephews,

Michael Wayne Bateman of Texas, Stephen Paul Bateman of Baton Rouge and Pat (Betty) Crain of Clinton; great-nephew William Clark (Crissi) Crain Crain of Clinton and their three children; great-niece Donielle (David) Gainous and their four children; longtime family friends Mike and Brenda Miller, Shane Miller and Elise Miller Knight, all of Mt. Hermon; and other nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Holbern “Bot” Burch; her parents, Huey Lawson Bateman and Evie Inez Varnado Bateman; two brothers Wade Bateman and Wayne Bateman; and a nephew, Bill Bateman.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 11 at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and continued on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Russell Kirkland and Rev. Jeremy Ingram officiating. Burial followed in the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church Cemetery.
