Franklinton Head Start has been accredited since 1997 and currently is one of 19 centers in the state that has the certification. It also is one of 10 centers in the state to have a 5-Star rating.  Franklinton Head Start serves 105 Pre-K children, 40 infant-toddlers and 145 families.  The organization makes a difference by always asking, “Is it good for children?”

The high quality programs at Franklinton Head Start provide a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the development of young children. NAEYC Accredited Programs show their quality by meeting the 10 NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards, which are based on the latest research on the education and development of young children. Accreditation is awarded for five years and during that period, programs submit annual reports and are also subject to unannounced visits by certified and skilled assessors from Washington, D.C. Franklinton Head Start received 100 percent plus in seven of the 10 areas and the six classrooms observed were rated from 94 percent to 98 percent.
