If early voting is any indication, large crowds will show up at polling places throughout Washington Parish for the Nov. 6 election Tuesday.

A record nearly 4,000 parish residents cast their ballots early, and Registrar of Voters Randy Strickland said he believes that was due to the race for president.

Besides electing a Commander in Chief, local voters will also select a U.S. Congressman, help decide nine proposed Louisiana Constitutional Amendments, and weigh in on term limits for school board members.

Voters in Angie, Franklinton and Varnado will additionally elect new Boards of Aldermen, with those in Varnado also picking a chief of police.

Voters need to bring a driver’s license, Louisiana Special ID or other generally recognized ID that contains a picture, name and signature.

Those who have no picture ID may bring a utility bill, payroll check or government document that includes their name and address. They will be required to sign an affidavit before being allowed to vote.

The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
