Johnnie B. Jenkins, a resident of Bogalusa born Feb. 9, 1923, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2012.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and also a former owner of the Thrifty Shop.

She is survived by one daughter, Darlene (Dave) Hargett of Burnett, Texas; one son, Chris (Debbie Tolar) Jenkins of Abita Springs; one sister, Lillie Mae (Joe) Scelfo of Bogalusa; one sister-in-law, Norma Jenkins of Bogalusa; three grandchildren, Clay and Leah Jenkins and Eric Hargett; two great-grandchildren, Claire Jenkins and Westin Jenkins Bush; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston “Pop” Jenkins, and two sisters, Elaine Penton and Theo Taylor.

Visitation was held Monday, Aug. 13 in the Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel from 9:30 a.m. until time for the funeral service in the chapel at 2 p.m., with Rev. Bob Adams officiating. Interment followed at Ponemah Cemetery.
