Franklinton Rotary Club and Red Cross to hold disaster training class

The Franklinton Rotary Club is entering into a partnership with the Southeast LA American Red Cross Chapter in support of sheltering needs for major disasters such as hurricanes.

Rotary members will attend a training class for Red Cross volunteers on Aug. 23 from 5:15 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. at the Washington Parish Council Chambers in Franklinton. The training class will be taught by Lou Kennedy of the North Shore Red Cross staff.

The training will prepare local workers to man a shelter should a need arise. This will be a good refresher course for those who have had the training previously.

Rotary Club is coordinating this effort with the Washington Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness. Parish Director Tommy Thiebaud said, “We appreciate the volunteer efforts of the Franklinton Rotary in such a worthwhile effort of serving others.”
