The Humane Society of Louisiana designated Saturday, Aug.18 as Lemon-Aid Day for Animals, and encouraged young people and adults to set up lemonade stands on that day to raise funds for abused, neglected and homeless animals.

The collected donations will be divided among the group’s 13 volunteer chapters now operating throughout the state. Participants are asked to pre-register online with the Humane Society by visiting their website at or by calling 1-888-6-HUMANE.

To help the cause, The Daily News will publish a list of Washington Parish participant locations in its Friday paper.

To get on the list, please contact The Daily News at 732-2565 or online at before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15.
