Inez Smith Russell

Inez Smith Russell, 91, a loving mother born Feb. 10, 1921 in Bogue Chitto, Miss., passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 at her residence in Angie after a lengthy illness.

She was a charter member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bogalusa, and she retired from Crown-Zellerbach Bag Plant.

She is survived by a daughter, Marion (Ralph) Pierce of Angie; a son, Charles Russell of Angie; two sisters, Helen Boyd of Prairieville and Frances Roberts of Clanton, Ala.; four brothers, J.W. Smith of Meadeville, Miss., Clifford Smith of Mesquite, Texas, Claude Smith of Bogue Chitto and Frank Smith of Mansura; five grandchildren, Chuck (Tracy) Russell, Crystal (Toney) Corkern, Randy (Susan) Russell, Scott (Cathy) Pierce and Melanie (Steve) Hoover; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a special caregiver and friend, Loucrisie Reynolds, who gave her love and care for seven years; other special caregivers, Cloyce Crain, Betty Watson, Janez Johnston, Sherry Schillings and Brenda Chance; her granddaughter and special caregiver, Crystal Corkern; and a great-granddaughter and caregiver, Jessica Corkern.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse W. Russell; her parents, Jacob I. Smith and Viola Morgan Smith; three sisters, Tera Brister, Lucille Williamson and Lois Boyd; two brothers, Carey Smith and Leroy Smith; and a daughter-in-law, Eloise Russell.

Visitation was held Friday, Aug. 10 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. and continued Saturday in the funeral home chapel, from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral services at 1 p.m., with Pastor Paul Clark officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit, Miss.

The active pallbearers were Steve Hoover, Scott Pierce, Drake Pierce, Jeremy McClendon, Matthew Corkern and Jeremy Bell.

The family wishes to thank the nurses at Ultra Home Health for years of special care and Larry Lee of Camellia Hospice for his compassionate care.
