Inaugural Washington Parish 4-H Walk-A-Thon a success

On Saturday, March 10, the inaugural Washington Parish 4-H Walk-A-Thon was held at the Washington Parish Fairgrounds.

The event, sponsored by a branch committee of the Washington Parish 4-H Jr. Leaders, was a benefit for breast cancer research and Washington Parish 4-H.

Opening ceremonies were conducted by Coordinator Kreig Todd, who welcomed participants and spectators. Following his remarks the FHS MCJROTC presented the colors, followed by the National Anthem, sung by Emily Varisco. The invocation was led by Bro. Jake Goforth, youth minister of Hilltop Baptist Church.

Forty-two participants started the race at 9 a.m. and all completed the course. Winners of the events were:

After the race, the committee announced $1,100 was raised, with $200 to be donated to a breast cancer research foundation and the other $900 to stay in Washington Parish to benefit the 4-H Program.
