Peggy Ann Whitehead King

Peggy Ann Whitehead King, 58, a resident of Bogalusa born Sept. 12, 1953, died Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 7:45 a.m. at Northshore Specialty Hospital.

She loved her pet dogs and enjoyed spending time on the porch. She was always a very loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ellie W. King Jr. and Donna King of Enon; a daughter and son-in-law, Lillie V. Freeman and Gary Freeman Jr. of Bogalusa; four best friends, Gary Freeman Sr. and Brenda Freeman, Katie Saucier and Tiger Freeman; 15 grandchildren, Tiffany Smith, Crystal King, Dillon Warner, Austin Warner, Lindsey C. King, Amber Warner, Amanda King, Joshua King, Jazmine Saucier, Cody Saucier, Hannah Freeman, Shawn Saucier, Madysan Freeman, Shyann Freeman and Lucas Freeman; two great-grandchildren, Demetrius “Tamya” Whittean and Chino Whittean; six sisters, Juanita Jenkins, Wyoma Howell, Lela Mae Gotchuaw, Dorothy “Dot” Hill, Betty L. Whitehead and Mary L. Anthony; two brothers, Floyd Whitehead and Eugene “Buster” Whitehead; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsey D. King; daughter, Linda “Polly” Whitehead; her parents, Walter Wesley Whitehead and Eva Granger Whitehead; a sister, “Pigeon” W. Gill; four brothers, Lloyd Whitehead, Thomas Whitehead, Dewitt Whitehead and Butch Whitehead; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lillie Mae Corkern King and Delos Manuel King; and a niece, a nephew and several brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Crain Funeral Home from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. and will resume Thursday at 9 a.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m., with Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in Knight Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary donations on Mrs. King’s behalf to assist the family in final expenses.

Pallbearers will be Austin Warner, Gary Freeman Sr., Elmer Jones, Lindsey C. King, Buddy Ruberson Sr. and Buddy Ruberson Jr.
