A Bogalusa man was arrested and charged with cultivation of marijuana this week after a Louisiana National Guard Counter Drug Aviation Unit spotted a single mature marijuana plant growing in his yard, according to Bogalusa Police Chief Joe Culpepper.

Dent Dykes Jr., 54, of Don Bates Circle, was booked into the Washington Parish Jail.

Culpepper said the National Guard was flying reconnaissance over the parish when it discovered the “plot.”

Dykes was arrested in a joint effort of the Guard, Louisiana State Police, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Bogalusa Police Department.
