Remona Rose Brown Spikes

Remona Rose Brown Spikes, 60, a native of Washington Parish and a resident of Bogalusa, departed this life Sunday, July 22, 2012 at LSU Bogalusa Medical Center.

She was a faithful member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, where she served in the Missionary Society. She was also a 1970 graduate of Bogalusa High School.

Formerly associate matron of Rose of Sharon No. 152 Order of Eastern Star of Bogalusa, she now hailed from Rose of Sharon No. 22 of Albany.

She was also a member of Eva No. 6 Queen of the South Palace, Queen Mary No. 19 Amaranth Court, Artina No. 3 Heroines of Jericho Court, Avis No. 72 Ladies of Knight Templar, Swanigan No. 14 Daughters of Sphinx Court and Phepe College No. 13 Rose of 7 Seals, all of Albany. She was a very diligent, dedicated and active member and held offices in each house.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Ree Spikes of Bogalusa; her son, Anthony (Tanya) Williams of Columbus, Ga.; her brother, Jimmy Lee Brown of Bogalusa; nine stepchildren, Byron (Lenelva) Tyner of Bogalusa, Shantell (Billie) Rhemes of Ponchatoula, James Harry of Houston, Texas, Nikita Harry of Ponchatoula, Charmarl (Trennice) Harry of Bogalusa, Latoya Mingo of Livingston, Texas, Kishina Harry of Bogalusa, Renekia Ramsey of Livingston, Texas and Komiya (De’Guerin) Johnson of Livingston, Texas; 29 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Freddie Mae Brown; her father, Otto Brown; and her brother, Donnie Ray “Private Eye” Brown.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 27 at Crain & Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 420 Church St., Bogalusa, at 1 p.m., with Elder R.L. Palmer, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Bogalusa Cemetery.
