On Nov. 11, 1949, in Washington Parish, Ethedic Bernett Jones was born to the late Henry and Annie Dyson Jones. He departed this life at age 62 on July 17, 2012 at 1:31 p.m. at St. Tammy Parish Hospital in Covington.

He joined Crystal Springs AME Church as a child.

He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Julien Jones of LeHigh Archers, Fla. and Henry Burton of Harvey; one brother, Bobby (Helen) Jones of Kentwood; three sisters, Betty Joe James of Mt. Hermon, Lee Ida Jones of Independence and Audrey Watson of Covington; one aunt, Doretha Dyson of Kentwood; one uncle, Edward Dyson of New Orleans; four special nieces, Theresa James, Kim James, Annie Young and Lalisa Jefferson; three special nephews, Willie James, Kenneth James and Damien Briggs; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthie Mae Jones; his parents; a son, Bernett Burton; and two sisters, Lola Mae Miller and Lee Violet Jones.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 26 at Crystal Springs AME Church in Mt. Hermon from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral services at 11 a.m., with Rev. Ranches Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery.
