Downtown Franklinton will be jumping Monday morning when Johnny D. Crain Jr. is sworn into office as Washington Parish Clerk of Court and Randy Seal is inaugurated as Washington Parish Sheriff.

Jimbo Stevenson will also be sworn into office as assessor, but he won’t take the seat permanently until the current term is over in January. Seal left the assessor’s seat mid-term to run for sheriff, and the assessor terms do not run concurrently with those of sheriff and clerk of court.

Stevenson is scheduled to take the oath as interim assessor at 8 a.m. in the parish courthouse in Franklinton.

Crain, son of longtime Clerk of Court Johnny Crain Sr., whom he will replace, will be inaugurated in the upstairs courtroom of the parish courthouse at 9 a.m.

Inauguration ceremonies for Seal will take place across the street at the sheriff’s office at 11 a.m.

The public is invited to attend.
