Washington Parish School performance scores on the rise

School performance scores for Washington Parish have been released for 2024. Washington Parish rose 1.6 points according to Superintendent Jennifer Thomas, and received an overall score of a 78.6 “B”. Pine Jr/Sr High School stands out by receiving a 90.2 “A” and receiving the distinction of being a Top Gains Honoree. Top Gains is a prestigious award given to schools that demonstrate significant student progressing achievement over a period of time. The staff at Pine Jr/Sr High say that “this achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students, faculty, and staff who strive for excellence every day.” Franklinton High School, Franklinton Elementary, and Franklinton Primary also received a Top Gains distinction by receiving an “A” score in their progress index. Varnado High School’s scores continue to be on the rise as they earned the highest scores that they have received in a decade.

In Washington Parish elementary schools, 38 percent of students tested at or above proficient for reading and 24 percent tested at or above proficient for math. At the middle school level, 40 percent tested at or above proficient for reading and 25 percent tested at or above proficient for math. At the high school level, 39 percent of students tested at or above proficient in reading and 29 percent tested at or above proficient in math.
