The Washington Parish Council on Aging is hosting their fourth annual health fair / drug take back event today from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm at the senior center at 603 Willis Avenue, Bogalusa. Sponsors for the event include the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, AmeriHealth Caritas, Washington Parish Council on Aging and Adapt-Inc.

Activities include drug drop-off, primary care + Behavioral Health Info., pharmacy information, education resources, linkage to Care, WIC Program information and Medicaid Renewals/Application.

Free turkeys will go to those that turn in unwanted and outdated medications. One turkey per car while supplies last. Free Deterra packets will be provided for safe disposal. Approved medications for disposal are vitamins, prescriptions, patches or strips, over the counter pills, liquid medicines and pet prescriptions. The following items will not be accepted. Needles and sharps, mercury thermometers, chemotherapy or radioactive substances, illicit drugs or pressurized containers and inhalers.
