SPECIAL TO THE DAILY NEWS

The Pine Raiders put on a commanding performance Friday night, defeating Kaplan High School 21-6 in the second round of the LHSSA playoffs. The Raiders’ defense was stellar, keeping Kaplan out of the end zone for nearly the entire game, allowing only a single score late in the contest.

DJ Garrett was a standout on both sides of the ball. The senior wide receiver played a crucial role, making a spectacular catch near the goal line that set up a 1-yard touchdown run by quarterback Trey Knight. Garrett’s playmaking didn’t stop there—he also recorded three key interceptions, helping to shut down Kaplan’s offense.

Trey Knight was equally impressive, throwing two touchdown passes, showcasing his poise under pressure. The Raiders’ offense, powered by Knight’s leadership and Garrett’s clutch performances, was able to control the tempo of the game throughout.

With the win, the Pine Raiders advance to the next round of the playoffs and will travel to St. James to take on the Wildcats on Friday, after Thanksgiving. The team will look to keep their momentum going as they continue their championship run.
