Franklinton woman dies after automobile accident

On Monday, November 18, 2024, at approximately 6:15pm, the Franklinton Police Department received a 9-1-1 call regarding a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Washington Street and T.W. Barker Drive.
Police, fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, first responders came into contact with a 74 year-old female, identified as Barbara Adams of 1004 T.W. Barker Drive, Franklinton, La. Adams was alert and communicative at the time, only exhibiting minor injuries. However, due to the nature of the accident, Adams was transported by Northshore Ambulance to Lakeview Regional Medical Center to address potential internal injuries.
While enroute to the hospital, the FPD received communication that Adams was in critical condition. A short time later, the FPD received notification Adams had succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash.
Evidence obtained from the crash scene indicate the driver of the vehicle was traveling east on Washington Street at approximately 25 mph during inclement weather. For reasons unknown, Adams entered Washington Street from the Chevron parking lot into oncoming traffic.
Additional evidence is being collected and impairment is not suspected on behalf of the driver.
