The Rev. Jerry Wade Williams, 91, of Milton, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024. Married July 3, 1963, Jerry was a devoted husband to Kitty Ann Ramer Williams for 61 years. Born on April 25, 1933, in Varnado, La., Jerry served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, until his honorable discharge on July 5, 1957. He later graduated from Sam Houston State University on Jan. 22, 1960 with a degree in sociology (BS). He then earned a Masters of Religious Education, graduating from New Orleans Baptist Seminary on August 13, 1971.
The Rev. Williams served as a Baptist minister and missionary for 52 years, the majority of which was with the Interstate & Foreign Landmark Missionary Baptist Association. For over five decades, he ministered to congregations in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, where he was well-known for his missionary work and outreach.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father Thomas Henry Williams; his mother, Myrtis Jane Walker Williams; his brother, Tom Clifton Williams Sr.; and his sister, Doris Yvonne Williams Simmons. He is survived by his wife Kitty Ann Ramer Williams; his sister, Elaine Ophelia Williams Hoggatt; his children, Annette Rowe (Norman) of Hattiesburg, Miss.; Shannon Rowe (Neil) of Milton, Fla.; and Rachel Hamilton (Joshua) of Alexandria, Va.; as well as his grandchildren, Anna Beth, Luke, Kathryn, Sam, Ben, Ginny, Andrew, Leah, and Leila; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 62022 Dollar Road, Angie, La.
