Track/Field Youth Fun Day
Bogalusa High School is hosting Track/Field Youth Fun Day on May 17 at 9 a.m.
The event will take place at the Coach Gary C. Magee Sports Complex.
Buses will bring students to the track.
The schools competing will be Byrd Avenue Elementary School, Northshore Charter, Ben’s Ford Christian School, Central Elementary School, Bogalusa Middle School, Annunciation Catholic School and Wesley Ray Elementary School.
The meet is for 6-12 year olds in Washington Parish.
Athletes can compete in up to four events and ribbons will be awarded to first through sixth place for individuals and the top two schools will be rewarded with trophies.
The meet gets under way at 9 a.m. with the softball throw, which is for boys and girls ages 6-8, shot put (girls 9-10 and boys 11-12), long jump (all ages) and high jump (9-12s).
The 400-meter run will start at 10 a.m. (9-12s).
A series of running events will start at 11 a.m. to conclude the meet that includes the 50 (6-10s), 50 hurdles (11-12s), 100 (all ages) 200 (all ages).
The cost is $5 per athlete.
The deadline to sign up is May 15 at noon.
Practice is available on the track at 5:30 p.m. weekdays for participating athletes.
Fans can get in to the meet for $5 for adults and $3 for children and the concession stand will be open.

Share the Rock Basketball Camp
The eighth annual Share the Rock Basketball Camp will take place May 22-26 at Ben’s Ford Christian School.

The clinic runs from 8 a.m. until noon and is for boys and girls ages 7-12.

The cost is $50.

Franklinton High School hosting baseball camp
Franklinton High School is hosting the 2023 Demon Baseball Camp.
The clinic, which is a total skills camp, will take place May 30 to June 2 for ages 5-14.
The 5-8s will attend from 9 a.m. until noon, while 9-14s will go from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The fee for morning campers is $60, while it’s $110 for all-day participants.

Sports Work Academy is June 17
The 16th annual Sports Work Academy Basketball Camp will be held on June 17 at the Bogalusa YMCA.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the camp fee is $20. The camp starts at 9 a.m.
So far, this year’s guest coach is O’Brian Callahan, who owns the organization called Only Basketball Elite. There may be coaches and speakers added before the day of the camp.
The rest of the coaches are 1981 Bogalusa High School graduate Murrell Galloway and co-Camp Director Nikita Wilson.

TCB Track Club
The TCB Track Club is holding registration for children ages 8-18.
This is the first year of the track club, which is based in Bogalusa and Mississippi.
