Sanders named Bogalusa’s April Student of the Month

Diara Sharae Sanders is an 18 year old senior at Bogalusa High School. She is ranked in the top of her class. She was born May 3, 2005. She is the daughter of Taqona and Derrick Sanders. She is the granddaughter of Betty Nichols. She has one sibling, Derica Sanders. All of her life, she has been raised here in Bogalusa. She is ready to continue on her journey in a new place for this next chapter of her life. .
Diara has maintained a 3.7 grade point average her whole high school career. She attended summer seminar at BHS for two years, earning certifications in entrepreneurship. She is a three-year National Honor Society member. She has been a 4-H member for one year. She has been a member of the Bogalusa High School School-based Health Center Youth Advisory Council for two years. She was on the Bogalusa High School Cheer Team for two years. She has also been a member of the Brilliant Mindz Youth Organization for three years, where she has earned over 100 community service hours. Diara has represented her school well. She competed at the District Literary Rally her sophomore year in chemistry. She is a student in the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) class. She attended the Louisiana JAG conference this school year where she was named Ms. JAG of Louisiana. She earned this title through her many hours serving her school and community and by actively preparing for her future through the JAG class. She was a member of the BHS Homecoming Court her senior year as a maid. She was voted Most School Spirit and honored at the BHS Personality Ball.
Diara enjoys spending time with her friends. She likes going shopping. When she wants to free her mind, she listens to music. Most of the time, she loves being on social media or taking naps. Most of all, she loves living life to the fullest. After high school, Diara plans on attending Southern University A&M College of Baton Rouge and furthering her education in Social Work.
