Bowling Green boys compete in South State running events

Bowling Green School’s boys ran in the South State Meet on Saturday at Silliman Institute.

Josiah Coward and Kyron Cowart ran fifth and sixth in the 100 with times of 11.62 seconds and 11.76. Oak Forest Academy’s Cameron Finch won in 11.17.

Bowling Green’s 4×200 relay team was fifth at 1 minute, 40 seconds. The team included Preston Jarrell, Russell Wilson, Trey Champagne and Zeke Burford. Oak Forest Academy won in 1:33.

Jace Miller was sixth for the 200 with a time of 24.10. Oak Forest Academy’s Tanner Spears won in 22.98.

Saturday’s meet included all running events except the 3,200 meters.

The top four from each event are headed to the Class 5A state meet.

The state meet’s field events and the 3,200 will be on May 5 at Jackson Academy. The rest of the running events will be on May 6 at Jackson Preparatory School.

In order to reach state, the athletes needed to come in the top four at their district meet.

Bowling Green School was the only school from Washington Parish in the meet.
