Mt. Hermon will be well represented in regionals

Mt. Hermon School will be well represented in regionals for track/field after their performance in the District 7-B Meet on Thursday at Christ Episcopal School.
Demontre Taylor came in second in the 200 meters and teammate Brandon Tate was fourth with times of 25.35 seconds and 25.82. Christ Episcopal School’s Marcus Moses won in 24.56.
Graycen Claunch and teammate Carl Weston Fortenberry ran second and third in the 800 with times of 2 minutes, 27 seconds and 2:31. Christ Episcopal School’s Hugh Penton won in 2:21.
Daeshaun James came in second for the shot put at 33 feet, 0 inches and Ja’Michael Fortenberry was eighth at 27-11. Holden’s Dalton Miller won at 35-8.5.
Thursday’s meet was a qualifier. The top four from each event are headed to regionals, which is April 24 at McNeese State University.
Mt. Hermon School’s 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams came in third and fourth with times of 55.26 and 1:45. Christ Episcopal School won both events at 46.74 and 1:38.
James was third in the discus with a throw of 81-1 and Ja’Michael Fortenberry was sixth at 70-7. Miller won with a distance of 99-4.
Taylor was fourth in the 100 after clocking a 12.36. Christ Episcopal’s Greg Jackson ran an 11.98 to win.
Phoenix Bertrand was fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 6:54 and Damian McQuiston was sixth at 8:34. Christ Episcopal School’s Mason Lyons won in 5:12.
Carl Weston Fortenberry was fourth in the 3,200 with a time of 12:54. Lyons won in 11:40.
