Franklinton’s 4×200 relay team is headed to regionals

Franklinton’s girls 4×200 relay team is headed to regionals after coming in fourth place at the District 8-4A Meet that was held on Tuesday at Salmen.
The group ran the race in 2 minutes, 2 seconds. The team had Mercedes Lopez, Ka’Niyha Dillon, Kynaisha Abron and Laila Thompson
Salmen won the 4×200 with a time of 1:50.
Tuesday’s meet was a qualifying competition. The top four from each event are headed to regionals that will take place on April 25 at East Jefferson.
Franklinton is the only local team in the District 8-4A.
Several more Franklinton athletes competed.
Jennifer Dong and Hope Phelps were fifth and 10th for the discus with throws of 70 feet, 9 inches and 49-0. Loranger’s Myan Barthelemy won at 107-0.
Franklinton’s 4×100 relay team was fifth in 57.07 seconds. The team had Dillon, Abron, Nariah Smith and Kalice Roberts.
Salmen ran a 52.48 to win.
Susan Bradford and Isabella Lambert came in sixth and 12th for the javelin with distances of 71-9 and 50-1. Loranger’s Mikayla Watts won at 106-11.
Jazirya Roberts and Seiana Wilson were eighth and ninth in the long jump at 11-3 and 9-6. St. Scholastica Academy’s Lucy Divittorio won at 16-2.5.
Lopez and Abron were ninth and 11th for the 200 with times of 30.07 and 30.99. Salmen’s A’niyah Johnson won in 12.78.
