Bernadine Orgee La Francis James Magee, 75, was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She departed this earthly life peacefully on April 4, 2023 in Richardson, Texas. Bernadine was born on October 13, 1947, in Bogalusa, Louisiana to the late Charles and Emma Lee James.

Bernadine was a devoted mother who always put her children first. She worked hard to provide for them and always encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Bernadine was also a loving grandmother, affectionately called Mimi, who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and showering them with love and affection. She had a kind and generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Bernadine graduated from Central High School in 1964 at the age of 16. She attended Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge and Meadows Draughon Business College in New Orleans. She returned to Bogalusa and worked at International Paper from 1968 to 2002.

Bernadine was introduced to the truth in 1983 by Sister Doris Dickerson. In 1984 she dedicated her life to Jehovah. Bernadine’s faith was an essential part of her life. After retirement, she became a pioneer and did what she loved, spreading the good news of the kingdom. She did so until her illness made it impossible. Her passion for her faith undoubtedly touched the lives of many.

Bernadine is survived by her daughters Caryn (Y.M.) Carter, Catrice Magee, and Brenda Charmaine (Ralph Sr) Butler. Her legacy also includes seven cherished grandchildren, Siera Bridges, Rafael Bridges, Taylor (DeAndre) McCall, Tyra Magee, Raymond Bridges Jr, Dewain Butler Jr, and Aaron Butler; a beloved nephew Charles Hurley James Jr; two great-grandchildren, Ariah Bridges and Autumn McCall; and a host of relatives and friends.
