Franklinton’s Kelly Daniels was victorious in the 100 meters in the Allie Smith Invitational that was hosted by Covington at Ponchatoula on Wednesday.
Daniels won the event in 10.94 seconds.
Teammate Rayshone Manuel and Bogalusa’s Christian Gable were 10th and 20th with times of 11.53 and 12.65.
Bogalusa’s Desmond Ramirez Jr. was a top 3 finisher, as he was third in the triple jump with a distance of 40 feet, 4.5 inches. Salmen’s Cameron Dorsey won at 41-8.
Bogalusa and Franklinton were the two schools from Washington Parish that competed in the meet.
Franklinton’s 4×200 and 4×800 relay teams came in fifth. The 4×200 ran in 1 minute, 36 seconds, while the 4×800 tallied a 9:55. The 4×200 team had Manuel, Micah Hart, Christiun Martin and Timarion Partman. The 4×800 group was Jacob Crain, Andrew Crain, Ahmod Partman and Kaleb Causey. Salmen won the 4×200 race in 1:30 and Ponchatoula bested the 4×800 in 8:26.
Franklinton’s Jakobie McCormick came in a five-way tie for fifth in the high jump with Slidell’s Jarvion Evans, Northshore’s Conner Fritz and Salmen teammates Marley McKnight and Camron Robinson with all clearing the bar at 5-8. Ponchatoula’s Bishop Davis won a tiebreaker of fewest misses at 6-2.
Franklinton teammates Christian Young and Ahmod Partman and Bogalusa’s Gable ran sixth, 13th and 17th in the 400 with times of 54.88, 58.70 and 59.86. Ponchatoula’s Funentes James won in 53.01.
Bogalusa teammates Haikem Thompson and Tremon Ratliff along with Franklinton’s Beau Webb were sixth, 11th and 20th in the javelin with throws of 130-8, 125-5 and 100-2. Ponchatoula’s Hudson Delatte won after throwing a 172-9.
Franklinton’s 4×400 relay team ran seventh in 3:57. The team had Causey, Young, Curtis Williams and Ahmod Partman. Ponchatoula won in 3:31.
Franklinton’s Andre Callais, Bogalusa’s Ken’yin Guynes and Franklinton’s David Moore were seventh, 10th and 12th in the discus with distances of 108-1, 99-0 and 92-8. Ponchatoula’s Troy-Kee Butler won at 141-6.
Manuel and Timarion Partman were eighth and 14th in the 200 with times of 23.93 and 24.21. Salmen’s Christian Brown won with a time of 22.84.
Andrew Crain and teammate Stephen Pickering were eighth and 15th in the 3,200 with times of 12:11 and 15:51, as Ponchatoula’s Matthew Norman won in 10:41.
Ramirez, Martin and Gable were eighth, 13th and 16th in the long jump with distances of 18-2, 17-3.5 and 16-1. Davis won at 21-2.
Andrew Crain and Pickering ran ninth and 21st in the 1,600 with times of 5:18 and 6:45 with Norman winning in 4:49.
Williams and Jacob Crain were 11th and 14th in the 800 with times of 2:17 and 2:26. Northshore’s Elijah Palao won in 2:04.
Ratliff, Moore, Callais and Bogalusa’s Kenneth Keys were 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th in the shot put at 36-6.5, 36-2, 32-2 and 31-0. Ponchatoula’s Malcom Chester won at 49-3.
Ponchatoula won the team competition with 212 points, as 12 teams recorded points.
Salmen was second with 95.2, followed by Covington’s 58, Northlake Christian School’s 51 and Northshore’s 49.6.
Franklinton was sixth with 33, while Bogalusa came in 12th with seven.
