Bogalusa’s Gibson wins the shot put

Bogalusa’s Ciearra Gibson captured the discus in the Jewel Sumner Cowboy Relays that were held on Friday.

Gibson threw the discus 114 feet, 8 inches to win.

Franklinton’s Jennifer Dong and Shaniyah Forbes were seventh and 14th at 70-5 and 38-1.

Bogalusa and Franklinton were the only two teams from Washington Parish in the meet.

Bogalusa teammates Sha’Kezie Jefferson were fourth and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with times of 59.7 seconds and 1 minute, 4 seconds. Loranger’s Madison Ackerman won in 51.11.

Franklinton teammates Braelyn Johnson and Jessica McDonnell ran fifth and 13th in the 400 at 1:09 and 1:28. Amite’s Hai’ley Brumfield won in 1:06.

Franklniton’s 4×100 team was fifth after clocking a 56.37. The team had Mercedes Lopez, Kalice Roberts, Nariah Smith and Ka’Niyha Dillon. Kentwood won in 51.17.

Bogalusa and Franklinton’s 4×200 relay teams were fifth and sixth with times of 1:57 and 2:08. Bogalusa’s group included Jaylah Bearden, Ta’Miya Crumedy, Gibson and Caitlin Holloway and Franklinton’s team featured Laila Thompson, Amiryan Dyson, Hayleigh Polk and Kynaisha Abron. Kentwood won the event in 1:47.

Franklinton’s Susan Bradford and teammate Isabella Lambert were seventh and 10th for the javelin with throws of 68-5 and 55-1. Loranger’s Mikayla Watts won at 101-1.

Bearden was seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 28-2, as Ackerman won at 32-8.

Gibson and Crumedy ran eighth and ninth and Franklinton’s Roberts and Dillon were 11th and 13th  in the 100 with times of 14.16 and 14.22, 14.75 and 15.27, as Kentwood’s Tanaya Diamond won in 12.65.

Abron and Lopez were eighth and 11th in the 200 with times of 30.57 and 31.15. Diamond won in 25.67.

Bogalusa teammates Na’Kaleyn Thomas and Forbes came in ninth and 11th in the shot put with distances of 22-8 and 22-10. West Feliciana’s Arieonia Ebbs won at 35-2.

Bogalusa’s Serenity Jackson, Franklinton teammates Jazira Roberts and Alyssa Barker and Boglausa’s Bearden were 10th-13th in the long jump with distances of 12-4.75, 11-3.25, 10-11 and 10-5.5. West Feliciana’s Lauren Cazabat won at 16-11.25.

West Feliciana won the team competition with 149 points, as eight teams scored points.

Loranger was second with 119, followed by Kentwood’s 96, Amite’s 79 and Jewel Sumner’s 62. Bogalusa was sixth at 22 and Franklinton came in eighth with five points.
