On March 29, a Washington Parish man was arrested for sex crimes against a child. Robert W. Crain, 71, a resident of Mart Stewart Road south of Bogalusa, was booked into the Washington Parish Jail on charges of first degree rape of a victim under thirteen years old and pornography involving juveniles. His bond was set at $250,000.

Crain’s arrest was the result of an investigation by Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives who received a referral from the Louisiana Department of Child Services. While conducting a search warrant at Crain’s residence, detectives discovered a number of illicit items directly related to the crimes for which he was arrested.

“Our detectives did an outstanding job with this very sensitive matter,” stated Sheriff Randy Seal. “They are a hard-working and dedicated group of officers who sometimes have to deal with difficult matters which are abhorrent to the sensibilities and morals of decent, law-abiding citizens. Our detectives don’t shy away from delicate or complicated issues and tackle them head on. I am so appreciative of the professionalism of these officers as they work daily to help make Washington Parish a safer place in which to live.”
