Bogalusa hosting track/field meet for 7-12-year olds on April 1

Bogalusa High School is holding a track/field meet for 7-12-year olds on April 1 at 9 a.m.

The competition is open to those living in Washington Parish.

Athletes can participate in up to four events. Awards will be given to first through sixth place finishers.

The registration deadline is March 31 at noon. There will be no registration on competition day. The cost to sign up is $5 per athlete.

Field events start at 9 a.m. Girls will go first, followed by the boys. Each athlete will get three attempts per throw or jump depending on the event.

The field events are softball throw (boys and girls ages 7-8), shot put (girls and boys 9-12), long jump (all ages), high jump (all ages) and turbo javelin (ages 9-12).

The track events start at 10 a.m. with the 800-meter run, which is for ages 9-12.

The rest of the track events start at 11 a.m.

The rest of the track events are the 50-meter dash (ages 7-10), 50-meter hurdles (ages 11-12). The 100, 200 and 400 are for all ages.

Those attending the meet pay $5 admission for adults and $3 for children. Concession stand will be open.
