Franklinton’s Jaylin Magee and Khaled Waliagha captured Division II powerlifting state titles at the Cajundome in Lafayette on Saturday.
Magee, who competes in the 198-pound weight class, lifted 1,620 total weight for the title.
Magee went for 650 squat, 380 bench press and 590 deadlift.
Magee set divisional records for the squat, deadlift and total weight, meaning that along with bench, all four Division II records in the 198s are held by Franklinton powerlifters. Shelton Jenkins set the Division II record for bench press last year with a 435.
Jenkins won the outstanding lifter for the 181-SHW weight classes in Division II.
Waliagha, who competes in the 220s, squatted 530, benched 360 and deadlifted 565 for 1,380 total.
Continuing with Franklinton lifters, Rayshone Manuel was fifth, Treyton Bankston took seventh and Kevion Ginn was 10th.
Manuel was fifth in the 165s with a 465 squat, 215 bench and 460 deadlift for 1,140. Leesville Izaiah Farley won with a 1,300.
Bankston finished seventh in the 148s with a 405 squat, 215 bench and a 375 deadlift for a 995 total. Teurlings Catholic’s Gavin Guilbeau won the title with a 1,135.
Ginn was 10th in the SHW with a 460 squat, 225 bench and 460 deadlift for an 1,145 total. Salmen’s Dwayne Coleman is the champion with an 1,815.
Also competing for Franklinton was Andre Callais (181).
Franklinton was fourth in the event with 25 teams posting points. Franklinton tied South Terrebonne with 16 points, but Franklinton won the tiebreaker because they had more first place finishes.
St. Michael the Archangel won the state title with 44 points.
Lutcher was second with 22 points, followed by Archbishop Hannan’s 21.
