Bogalusa High School held its first track meet at the Gary C. Magee Sports Complex on Thursday.
Construction for the facility was completed and ready for competition in late September.
“After years not having a facility to host a meet, once the new facility had been built, it’s a growing process to get off the ground,” Bogalusa track/field coach Eddie Walker said. “Even though we only had one team show up (Livingston Collegiate Academy), we are motivated to know that it’s a growing process and we look forward to hosting more meets in the future and hoping that other schools will find Bogalusa a viable place to come enjoy and experience some of the best track and field in Louisiana. With that, we want to thank everybody for coming out to the Gary C. Magee Track/Field Complex, the volunteers, ROTC, all the coaches, not just track coaches, but all the coaches and BHS staff for coming out and showing their enthusiasm to be a part of a growing program within the system. I also thank Coach Magee himself for being present.”
Bogalusa High School’s next meet will be on March 31 at Jewel Sumner.
