Mt. Hermon’s Fortenberry wins the javelin

Mt. Hermon School’s Bailey Fortenberry captured the javelin in the 2023 Cowgirl Relays that were held on March 10 at Jewel Sumner.
Fortenberry threw the javelin 86 feet, 4 inches to win.
Franklinton teammates Susan Bradford and Isabella Lambert were seventh and eighth with throws of 61-10 and 58-4 with Mt. Hermon School’s Alexis Trahan coming in ninth at 44-6.
One individual from Mt. Hermon and a relay team from Franklinton had second-place finishes.
Mt. Hermon School’s McKenzie Fountain was second in the 3,200 meters with a time of 17 minutes, 48 seconds. Jewel Sumner’s Kylie Rhodus won in 15:47.
Franklinton’s 4×100 relay team was second after running in 58.43 seconds. The group included Mercedes Lopez, Nariah Smith, Kalice Roberts and Ka’Niyah Dillon. Amite won in 53.35.
Several individuals and a Franklinton relay team were third.
Mt. Hermon School’s Syria Crain was third for the 800 after clocking a time of 4:32. Loranger’s Skylar Ford won with a time of 3:02.
Teammate Camdyn Quin was third in the 1,600 at 7:34.
Teammate Meggan Fountain was next at 8:36. Ford won the event in 6:44.
Franklinton’s 4×200 relay team that had Laila Thompson, Amiryan Dyson, Kynaisha Abron and Kailee Kemp was third at 2:12.08.
Mt. Hermon School, whose group had Jumrie WIlliams, Fortenberry, Katherine Quin and Shunna Williams, was fourth at 2:12.11. Amite won in 1:54.
Franklinton’s Braelyn Johnson and Mt. Hermon School’s Fortenberry ran fourth and fifth respectively in the 400 with times of 1:12 and 1:17. Jewel Sumner’s My’Jha Holmes won in 1:05.
Franklinton teammates Jennifer Dong and Hope Phelps along with Mt. Hermon School’s Skye WIlliams and Pine’s Samya Dillon were fourth, seventh, 11th and 15th in the discus with throws of 64-6, 55-6, 44-10 and 33-3. Jewel Sumner’s LeNiyah Toulouse won at 80-7.

Mt. Hermon School teammates Shunna Williams and Jumyrie Williams along with Franklinton teammates Abron and Dillon ran fifth, ninth, 10th and 11th in the 100 at 13.81, 14.96, 15.26 and 15.47. Holmes ran a 12.60 to win.
Franklinton’s Ketaylor Hodges, Pine’s Dillon, Franklinton’s Emma Moran and Mt. Hermon School’s Skye Williams were fifth, seventh, eighth and 12th in the shot put with distances of 24-5, 22-0, 20-2.5 and 18-2. Amite’s Rene Harris won at 26-0.
Lopez and Abron were sixth and seventh in the 200 with times of 30.88 and 32.69. Amite’s Jada Carter ran a 28.09 to win.
In the long jump, Mt. Hermon teammates, Shunna Williams and Seiana Wilson along with Franklinton’s Jazirya Roberts were sixth, seventh and 10th with distances of 13-3.5, 12-11.75 and 10-1. Loranger’s Madison Ackerman won at 32-10.
