Bogalusa’s girls basketball team reached the quarterfinal round of the Division III non-select state playoffs, but were defeated by Amite, 74-42, on the road on Feb. 23.

Caitlin Holloway led Bogalusa with 19 points.

Ladericka Payne posted 13.

Tamerical Peters tallied six.

Tamiya Crumedy and Tyasia Toussaint both posted two.

No. 10 Bogalusa posted a 12-10 record.

Bogalusa had four seniors in Peters, Holloway, Mariah Myles and Sae’Brionay Anderson.

“I had four seniors, mostly all of them i have coached for three years since i took over as the head girls coach,” Bogalusa coach Carnell Owens said. “it was an honor and a privilege to coach all of these young ladies. Even though we had dreams and aspirations of making it further, these ladies should be very prideful about what they were able to accomplish. This group of seniors made three-straight bi-district playoff appearances, this year making it to the Elite 8 “quarterfinals” which hasn’t been done in numerous years. Despite everything that’s going on around them they found a way to stay focused and strived to be great!”

No. 2 Amite (26-5) reached the state championship game, but was defeated by top-seeded Rosepine (29-7), 69-61.
