On Feb. 15, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from the Bogalusa Police Department, conducted a Juvenile Under Age Drinking Enforcement operation. Officers visited 20 businesses in the Bogalusa area and only one of the businesses sold alcohol to the minor who was attempting to purchase alcohol. That business was the Texaco station on Avenue F and the clerk who sold the alcohol was issued an arrest summons to appear in court for the violation. The other 19 businesses followed the law in requiring proper age identification from the minor attempting to purchase the alcohol.

“As demonstrated in this operation, most businesses followed the law and required age identification before selling alcohol,” stated Sheriff Randy Seal. “I congratulate each of these businesses for being responsible vendors. Let’s hope that the next check of parish businesses will show a 100% compliance rate.”
