Ben’s Ford takes 3rd in South State

Ben’s Ford Christian School’s girls basketball team came in third place at the South State Tournament that was held last Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at Wilkinson County Christian Academy.

After defeating Claiborne Academy, 40-36 on Feb. 7, Ben’s Ford was defeated by Tallulah Academy on Friday, 36-27.

Abby Descant and Maddie Willis both posted seven points to tie for the leaders in points.

Laci Brach tallied four.

Noel Martin had three.

Natalie Seal and Gracie Willis both recorded two.

That put Ben’s Ford in the third-place game on Saturday against Providence Classical Academy.

Ben’s Ford won that contest 52-42.

Avery Dantin led the Lady Eagles with 18 points.

Branch was next with 16.

Martin posted five.

Descant recorded four.

Ashlyn Dantin tallied three.

Maddie Willis had one.

Two players from Ben’s Ford made the all-tournament team, including Branch and Dantin.

The top four teams move on to the Class 3A Tournament that takes place Feb. 14-15 and Feb. 17-18 at Benton Academy.

Ben’s Ford opened the event by playing against Marvell Academy after press time on Feb. 14.
