On Feb. 6, after an extended investigation involving purchases of heroin and methamphetamine from Fernando Brister, 33, a resident of East 3rd Street in Bogalusa, detectives with the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force served an arrest warrant on Brister and a search warrant on his apartment.

 

Brister was taken into custody and transported to the Washington Parish Jail where he was booked on seventeen counts of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, eight of which were reported stolen from another jurisdiction. Additionally, Brister is charged with eight counts of possession of illegal drugs with intent to distribute as well as other charges. In total, Brister was booked on thirty-nine felonies.

 

During the search of Brister’s apartment, officers discovered and seized heroin, methamphetamine, powder cocaine, crack cocaine, Suboxone, MDMA and other assorted pills. In addition, Brister had more than $3,000 on his person. That, too, was seized as proceeds from the sale of illegal drugs. 

 

Brister’s arrest record dates to 2010 when he was arrested for distribution of illegal drugs. In 2017, he was arrested again and charged with fourteen felonies, including distribution of illegal drugs and thirteen counts of possession of illegal drugs with intent to distribute. 

 

“To say that our officers removed a major drug dealer from our streets would be a gross understatement,” stated Sheriff Randy Seal. “It’s safe to assume that Brister did not learn his lesson from his 2010 and 2017 arrests. These new charges should ensure that he receives a lengthy prison sentence. Good work, detectives!”
