The YMCA is thrilled to be a community partner with Northshore Stem Coalition!

“An exciting new endeavor bringing innovation, activities, aquatics, and knowledge to our area!” says YMCA CEO Toni St. Philip. “It was an amazing experience to see well over 400 people come through the doors on the first stop of the Stem Cafe tour!”

New things are in store! This Stem Cafe is the second event the Y has collaborated with Northshore Stem on. These began when instructor George Corkern was sent by YMCA staff to become a facilitator for SeaPerch Aquatic robotics program they called A.E.R.O. last summer. Wendy Conarro is the Director of NorthShore STEM Coalition and whom the YMCA staff contacted for this continuous community partnership.

Collectively they are working on doing state and regional competitions for aqua robotics at the YMCA facility along with many other activities.

We will be partnering in many future events with Northshore Stem Coalition. If you missed this STEM event you can be sure to check out the next few local ones including Pine Junior High School on March 18 and Amite High on April 22.
