The Ponemah Wreath Society held a ceremony at Ponemah Cemetery on Friday.

Volunteers put wreaths and a silhouette with an American Flag on it at each veterans’ gravesite. The group put 96 wreaths and silhouettes out. Guest speakers included Mike Beats from the Louisiana Grand Chef de Gare, and Allen Dunn, the Louisiana state commander of the American Legion and John Galaspy did the Flanders Field. All of the veterans were honored with a 21-gun salute and taps followed. The American Legion does funerals for the veterans. They have done 42 this year.
