Here is the senator’s message:
“To the good people of Louisiana, my thoughts and prayers are with you, particularly to our neighbors who were ravaged by the bad weather that we just had. We’ve had more than 20 tornadoes that just hit our state in the last couple of days. And my heart, and Becky’s heart, is with every Louisianian who is suffering from this week’s storms. This kind of loss and devastation and destruction is pretty breathtaking, and it would be tough on any state. Louisiana, we’re tough, but this kind of destruction and loss will put you to your knees, and I’m just so sorry.
“And I just want to tell you that Becky and I are praying for all of those who lost their life, or were injured, or lost their homes or their possessions or their power across our state—I’m thinking particularly about my people in Iberia, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Orleans, Union, Caddo, and St. Charles Parishes, and any place else. All of Louisiana is keeping the families of those killed in Keithville and Killona in our prayers today, and I wanted you to know that.
“We’ll work to rebuild together—just like we always do. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy. It’s never easy. And I also want to thank Louisiana’s first responders and our state’s search-and-rescue teams. They’ve been doing the Lord’s work in the aftermath of these storms. They always do. So, this has been a tough week for many Louisianians, but I just want all of those impacted by these storms and these tornadoes and this devastation to know that you’re not walking through it alone.”
