Mildred Crockett of Bogalusa, La. departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, at the age of 95. Mildred passed away peacefully at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La. She was born on Aug. 26, 1927, in Poplarville, Miss., to Lillie and Ollie Strahan, the youngest of five children.

 She accepted Christ at a young age and served Him faithfully throughout her life. Mildred was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She had a servant’s heart and always sought to see the best in others. She cared for her community and baked with love for her church, community, family and friends. She was a leader in the children’s ministry and hospitality at her church, Pettit Memorial Baptist Church. In later years, she enjoyed her Friendship Ladies Sunday School Class at Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria, La. All who knew her loved her.

Mildred loved to travel, especially with friends and family. She went on several trips overseas across Europe and the Holy Land. She also visited the Caribbean Islands, Hawaii, Alaska, and the Happiest Place on Earth, Disney World. She loved to visit friends and family and enjoyed life with them in their neck of the woods.

She loved the holidays, but Christmas was her favorite. She loved to be surrounded by her loved ones and host Crockett Christmas.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Wilfred Crockett, daughters Patricia Lynn Strickland and Lana Gayle Crockett, parents Ollie and Lillie Strahan, brothers Cecil Strahan and Ralph Strahan, and sisters Deloris Beall and Louise Daughdrill.

Mildred is survived by her sons, Gary (Lynda) Crockett of Alexandria, La. and David (Terri) Crockett of Huntersville, N.C. She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Shane Strickland, Chris Strickland, Darrell Darden, Shaun Primeaux, Greg “Granny” Moak, and Ryan Altazin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Daughdrill, Billy Darden, Paul Paxton, Bobby Wheat, Maurice Primeaux and Hayden Crockett as a Junior Pallbearer.

A service in celebration of Mildred’s life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa, La. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
