Franklinton High School’s Landon Blakeney won the 2022 Raising Canes LHSAA Prep Classic Poster Contest.
Blakeney’s poster will be featured as the cover of the 2022 Ochsner LHSAA Prep Classic program.
“I could not believe it,” Blakeney said. “It was so surprising. It was unexpected too.”
Blakeney’s poster was chosen the best of about 30 entries.
Blakeney’s poster will be featured as the cover of the 2022 Ochsner LHSAA Prep Classic program.
The poster is shown from an end zone view with a Louisiana culture all around, including an alligator going across a football field.
“It’s an alligator and it’s also a football field with Louisiana culture,” Blakeney said. “The stadium is kind of going up into New Orleans style houses, which kind of represents the culture coming out of the stadium. It represents what people work for and what they build. I tried to incorporate a lot of New Orleans style things on the sides.”
Blakeney, who is a senior, said the poster took about a week to put together and about 20 hours overall.
“That’s kind of my art style, kind of putting ideas on a paper and seeing where it goes from there. Combining Louisiana and my personal style, it was kind of easy,” Blakeney said about the idea.
Blakeney said he has been doing art since he was a small child.
“I felt like I’ve always been doing it. I probably started when I was four years old. They didn’t have an art program at the school I was at then, but when I moved to Franklinton, it kind of grew,” Blakeney said.
The Prep Classic will be held Dec. 8-10 at the Caesars Superdome.
