Vernell “Nell” Magee Evans went to meet Jesus on Monday, Nov. 28, 2022. She was 96 years old, loved the Lord, and was a great example to her family through her prayer life. Her hobbies included working with her flowers in the yard and quilting. Her love for cooking was known throughout her extended family and friends: sweet tea, chicken dumplings, fried chicken, potato salad, etc. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Baudouin(Buddy) and Susan Fowler, daughter-in-law Sue Evans, sister Mildred Graves, and brother-in-law Roy Evans(Shirley). Also, 6 grandchildren, Steve and Scott Baudouin(Lauren), Stefani Sullivan(Corey), Jeremy Evans, Robert and Jim Peavy(Trudy), 14 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband of 72 years, Woody Evans, son Jerry Evans, son-in-law Jim Fowler, parents John David and Jeanette Magee, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Zachary from 9 a.m. until service time at noon followed by the service at noon, led by Dr. Wayne Barnes. Burial at Azalea Rest Cemetery, Zachary.
The pallbearers are Steve, Scott, Landry and Cline Baudouin, Jeremy Evans, Corey and Noah Sullivan and Jim Peavy. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Baudouin, Billy Lively, and Robert Peavy. Special thanks to Superior Home Health, Modern Home Health Hospice(Ariel Phillips and Rhi Strong), neighbors Andre’ and Kayla McColope, and family.
