John Julius Schroeder Jr. passed away at his home in West Monroe on Oct. 28, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones after years of battling heart disease.

He will be missed by his survivors: mom, Joyce Schroeder; wife of 28 years, Diane Schroeder; brothers, Danny Hunt, Darren Hunt, and Dustin Hunt (companion Selena); daughter, Brandi Goebel, her fiancé William Phillips and her son Troy Downs; daughter, Kaila A. Marshall, her husband Joshua Marshall and their children Caden Murphy, Graham and Cooper Marshall; daughter, Emili Schroeder; best friend, David Perry; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Schroeder Sr. and Gloria Schroeder, and uncle, Percy Collins.

John lived a life of compassion, always seeing the good in everyone. He was a dad and granddad to many bonus children and grandchildren. He loved his wife endlessly, and it was obvious to all. Avid fisher, lover of camping, and an amazing human, he will be missed by so many.

Memorial service will be held at one of John’s favorite places, Jimmie Davis State Park, on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m.
