Anti-violence rally

An anti-violence “Put Down Da Guns” rally will be held Sunday, Oct. 30, at Redzone Sports Bar and Grill, located at 15310 Highway 21 South in Bogalusa. There will also be a Halloween party and live entertainment from Krazy D and singer Krystal Parker, for which admission will be charged. The rally itself is free.

Drug Take Back Day

Bogalusa Police Department will be having a “Drug Take Back Day” on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. They will be accepting any expired, unused or unwanted drugs. This event is sponsored by the BPD and ADAPT’s Partnership for Success.

Animal shelter upcoming events

Washington Parish Animal Shelter, located at 23046 Yacc Road, has a number of events planned for the months of October and November. Saturday, Oct. 29, will have two events. From 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., there will be bath day — come out and bathe all of the shelter’s pups and have fun getting “bubbly.” Also, from noon until 4 p.m., Franklinton Tractor Supply will be hosting a “Spookie” adoption event — you will be able to adopt, take photos with the fall-themed backdrop, and buy some popcorn from the local Boy Scout troop. On Saturday, Nov. 5, there will be “Picture Day” from 8 a.m. until noon — Santa can’t bring presents to the pups without a pretty picture, so come and help the shelter staff dress up and take pictures of their “perfect pups.” On Saturday, Nov. 19, the shelter will have “Decorating Day” from 8 a.m. until finished — help the shelter staff prepare for “Jingle Paws” by putting up lights, trees, decorations, pup stockings and much more. And then Saturday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., will be “Jingle Paws” itself. Jingle Paws is Washington Parish’s yearly low-cost vaccine event, filled with fun, food, free Santa photos, paw prints, a raffle, vendors and much more. All events will require volunteers, and all volunteers who need them will receive service hours.
