Bogalusa, Mt. Hermon School competed in meet last Saturday

Bogalusa and Mt. Hermon School’s cross country teams competed in the STA-Bruce O’Krepki Memorial Invite that was held on Oct. 15 at St. Thomas Aquinas.

In the girls division, Mt. Hermon’s Katherine Quin came in 58th with a time of 25 minutes, 55 seconds.

Teammate McKenzie Fountain was 63rd in 27:03 with Raeleigh Martin, Paisley Pena and Meggan Fountain running 66th to 68th with times of 29:30, 29:35 and 29:37. Mt. Hermon School’s Victoria Lani Rando was 71st at 34:25.

Bogalusa’s Cierra Gibson was 73rd in 36:28.

Mt. Hermon’s Emma Pena came in 75th in 37:58.

St. Thomas Aquinas’ Ava Mistretta won the race in 18:34.

Academy of Sacred Heart of New Orleans’ Leah Varisco was second in 18:50, followed by Albany’s Cayden Boudreaux’s 19:26, St. Thomas Aquinas’ Amelia Mistretta’s 19:44 and Slidell’s Chloe Crowell ran a 20:01 to round out the top five in a field of 76.

St. Thomas Aquinas won the team portion of the meet with 27 points, as eight teams qualified for points.

Academy of Sacred Heart of New Orleans was second with 62, followed by Mandeville’s 95, Slidell’s 103 and Ponchatoula was fifth with 105.

Mt. Hermon School came in eighth with 240.

In the boys division, Mt. Hermon School’s Christopher Mason Taylor came in 92nd after running the race in 22:38.

Bogalusa’s Darrion Phillips was 94th in 22:49.

The rest of the local runners were from Mt. Hermon, as Weston Forternberry was 95th in 23:14 with Phoenix Bertrand coming in 98th at 23:47, Graycen Claunch was 102nd in 28:13 and Carson Constant was 104th in 31:28.

Fontainebleau’s Benjamin Lewis won the race in 15:33.

Mandeville’s Max Jacketti was second in 16:09, followed by St. Paul’s School teammates Dominic Muguira and Henry Englehardt’s 16:21 and 16:22 and Archbishop Shaw’s Enrico Tapia ran a 16:41 to round out the top five in a field of 104.

Ponchatoula won the team competition with 70 points, beating out St. Paul’s School and Mandeville, who had 73 and 74 points respectively, in a close meet, as 12 teams qualified for points.

Slidell was fourth with 102 points with Archbishop Shaw fifth at 110.

Mt. Hermon School came in 12th with 364 points.

Bogalusa’s next competition will be a regional meet on Nov. 4 in New Orleans’ City Park.

Mt. Hermon School’s next meet will be in the regionals on Nov. 5 at Ponchatoula.
