Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

On August 29, 1952, in Tylertown, Miss., Gloria Nell Jefferson was born as the fourth of six children to Willie J. and Butha Lee Lowe. She worshipped during her formative years at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Tylertown. As of her passing, she was a current member at Outreach Full Gospel Baptist Church of Franklinton.

Gloria was a devoted Sister, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, Neighbor, Instructor, Classmate, Friend, Teammate, Chef, Grandmother, and Mother — so many titles and roles, but titles alone do not convey the completeness of her beauty, the fullness of her spirit, or the deepness of her generosity.

Gloria leaves to celebrate her legacy and cherish her memory: her loving children, Derrick Harvey (Michelle) of Clinton, Md., Nina Dillon of Baton Rouge, and Markayla Young (Rashad) of Tacoma, Wash.; her precious grandchildren, Dequane Dillon, Shaquille Dillon, Shakera Dillon, Dre-Shun Harvey, Dominque Harvey, Precious Dillon, Tellieun Harvey and Dorian Harvey; her great-grandchildren, Darzariyah Dillon, Shamia Marks, Logan Brown, Qiu’vez Taylor, Kaylyn Dillon, and Paislé Robertson; her devoted siblings, Elnora Martin, James Lowe (Edna), Richard Lowe, Sr. (Rose) and Jackie Martin (Henry), all of Franklinton; God-children, Kyra Martin, Matthew Robinson and Tammy Brumfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Willie J. Lowe Sr.; mother, Butha Lee Lowe; sister, Patricia Rice; husband, Filmore Harvey; and a very special devoted friend, Alfred Warren Jr.
